At least 25 political prisoners killed in ongoing Syrian jail riot
DEBKA - An anti-government human rights group reported that Syrian security forces have shot dead dozens of Islamist prisoners opposed to the Assad regime to quell a riot staged in the Saydanaya military jail north of Damascus Saturday, July 5. The London-based group quoted a prisoner contacted by mobile phone as reporting Saturday afternoon that the shooting was continuing and inmates had climbed up to the roof to escape the violence.
